Volunteer Opportunities

It is a matter of great pride for LISEC that the Timber Framers Guild has decided to undertake our project. What attracted them to us was that this is a community project on an historic site that will publicize the timber-framing concept in a public space.

We count on you, the community to be there with us as part of the building crew, as part of the ‘feeding the building crew’ team, as hosts of the out of town participants, or as observers. We also need your help financially as you will see on the other side of this enclosure.

Some of the ways that you may help are listed below.

 

TIMBER FRAMING WORKSHOP

AND BARN-RAISING

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 TH - SUNDAY OCTOBER 22 ND.

The application to participate is available on line here simply print it out and send it with a less than 1 page resume to us at the address below.

COMMITMENT: Must be available for the entire time or for any part there of (minimum of two days). There are also ‘jobs’ for anyone who wants to help, even for a few hours.

Register your time available by e-mail. Formal application not required.

PREPARATION

SITE

continues at Harborfront Park on most Saturday mornings. Bring your rakes, shovels and gloves to assist in the preparation and construction of the foundation, installation of electric and water, and the final grading of the site.

SUPPORT MATERIALS

LISEC will be working throughout the summer creating heavy-duty sawhorses, bracing for the framing ‘bents’, ‘baguettes’ for the roof trusses, and pegs (used instead of nails). You are invited to contribute your expertise or come to learn.
